Summer Outing 2010

A great time was had by all at our 2010 Summer Outing.  Huge kudos go to Sally Brown for arranging this amazing day.  First we enjoyed the Lighthouse Tour Cruise.  The boat left from Quonset and took us out into the bay to view 8 light houses and former lighthouses that once protected sailors on our rough and jagged shores. After the tour we headed for Newport to look around the shops a bit and have dinner at The Landing.  Most of the day was overcast but it never rained.  The sun even poked through a couple of times.

Waiting to get on the boat. From Left to right; Linda, Marie, Sally, and Dr. Al

Heading down the ramp; Marie, Sally, and Linda

Who cares about lighthouses when Eric Clapton's boat, Blue Guitar, flying the colors of its British Registry is just being welcomed into it's mooring?

Ok, ok!  Here it is - much closer up. See the guy sitting in the front - that isn't ERIC CLAPTON!

Just another big, pretty boat.  The moral of this story is no matter how big and how pretty your boat is, somebody else has a bigger, better one. Boat after boat, row after row, they sit tugging gently at their lines.  The people who actually get to enjoy them the most are probably the staff since they're the only ones on board most of the time.

And heerrreee's a LIGHTHOUSE!

And here's another lighthouse. This one has a guy inside it.

Captain opened the throttle and it did get a little windy at one point. . . That's Linda on the left and Sally on the right.

Marie and Joy (taking pictures) were just fine up on third!

Then we went to dinner at The Landing in Newport

Waiting for the server to set down the food.  The food was great too.  We highly recommend it!

Outside after. Ohhhh, we definitely ate too much - but it tasted soooo good!

The beautiful end of a beautiful and most enjoyable day.
