Marie Jones-Bridges received her Dental Hygiene degree from Bristol Community College in Fall River, Ma and her Bachelor of Science from the University of Rhode Island. She is also is a Certified Dental Assistant. Her dental career includes working in both the public and private sectors. She was the dental health program director for the City of Attleboro-providing initial screenings, coordinating services and providing treatment for all students in grades K-6. She developed educational and outreach programs for high school students, the elderly and drug-alcohol half-way homes. Marie was the first hygienist in the Pawtucket School based dental program-providing cleanings, sealants and referrals to area dentists. Her private practice experience comes from working in general practice and a Boston-based prosthodontic specialty practice before joining the practice of Dr. Lichtenfeld. Her knowledge of the dental profession is broad based combining skills and experience from the business community as the North-East Regional instrument specialist for a nationally known company and from academia where she is currently an adjunct faculty member in the dental assisting program at Massasoit Community College in Canton, MA . She has taught Dental Science, Dental Materials and is currently the Dental Radiography instructor. Marie has presented educational courses both in the U.S and in Canada, as well as serving on the editorial advisory board of the American Dental Hygienists’ Association.
Marie is an active member of the American Dental Hygienists’ Association (ADHA), and has held numerous positions within the organization include having served on the ADHA Board of Trustees, a past President of the Massachusetts association and past Vice-President (national), and currently is the legislative chair for the Rhode Island Dental Hygienists’ Association. In addition, she is a member of the Bristol Community College Alumni Association, a member of the Sigma Phi Alpha Dental Hygiene Honor Society, University of Rhode Island Honor Society, and the American Dental Assistants’ Association.
Her commitment to improving the oral health of all patients is demonstrated by her ability to create individualized hygiene treatment plans. The goal is to achieve the optimum in oral hygiene based on the patients’ general health, assessment of the oral cavity, and together with the patient choosing best home care products that are available on the market.
On a personal note-her passions include cooking, (previously owner of the Gourmet Penguin), gardening, reading, flea marketing and her family, grandchildren and three pet dogs.
